So, you need to archive your YouTube comments and you haven’t found a solution? I was in the same boat.
After looking at various vendors, none of them did the trick, so I got my own solution—and I’m offering the service to others who need to export YouTube comments.
This YouTube comment downloader tool exports comments into a Google Sheet, and includes:
- Timestamp of the comment
- Commenter name
- The comment itself, obviously
- Replies to a comment
You’ll end up with a big spreadsheet. Each video has its own sheet (or “worksheet” in Excel terminology), and you can save the master sheet in your archiving system. If you do this annually, you’ll get a new sheet every year. Do it more frequently, and you’ll get several sheets each year.
Current Pricing
How much does it cost?
- Initial export and onboard: $2,800
- Each additional export: $1,900
How Does it Work?
You do not use the tool yourself, and you won’t get the code for the tool. I got a Master’s in Information Systems and hired a developer to help build the tool, so I’m keeping it for myself.
You can obviously do the same, or you can try the various vendors out there. But I’m confident that my solution takes less time and effort, and it’s custom-built for a financial advisory firm. So, if you’d rather not spin your wheels on this, I’m happy to help.
To export comments, I’ll need a list of videos. You can get that in about 90 seconds when you’re logged in to your YouTube channel. I’m happy to screen share with you each time, if needed, to walk through the process. But if your list of videos doesn’t change, we can just re-use the original list.

Important
Consult with your compliance expert to verify that this will satisfy archiving requirements for your firm. I make no promise or suggestion that this is sufficient data. You are entirely on your own when it comes to compliance and you use these exports at your own risk. While the tool is believed to be reliable, there is no guarantee that all comments will be present. You must audit the results as you audit anything else in your firm (client billing accuracy, etc.), and I will not be responsible for losses, fines, time spent, or other costs/effort/consequences. At most, you may get a refund of money spent if an error is detected with 30 days of service.
This service is not an advisory service of Approach Financial, Inc. Instead, it is an outside business activity, and you will not contract with Approach Financial, Inc.
